Tips & options for financial support
Coaching, therapy or guidance programs are not always reimbursed by health insurance. However, there are various routes to (partially) get the costs reimbursed or tax deductible. The tips below will help you investigate which options may apply to you:
Supplementary health insurance
Some supplementary health insurances offer partial reimbursement for coaching or alternative care. This often falls under complementary or psychosocial care. Always ask your health insurer about the possibilities and conditions.
Through the employer
Employers are often prepared to reimburse (part of) the costs within the context of:
Personal development
Prevention of failure or burnout
Reintegration
Sustainable employability
Discuss this with your manager or HR department. Coaching is often deductible for employers.
For entrepreneurs and self-employed persons
Coaching focused on personal effectiveness, leadership, communication or stress management is often tax deductible as a business expense. Discuss this with your accountant or tax advisor.
Income tax: deductible healthcare costs
In some situations, coaching or therapy costs may fall under the so-called specific care costs. This depends on your personal situation and the type of trajectory. Consult the website of the Tax Authorities or your tax advisor.
PGB (Personal Budget)
For questions about education, behavior or for example giftedness, it is sometimes possible to apply for financing via a PGB. This is done via your municipality (Wmo or Youth Act). Applying for a PGB takes time, so start on time.
Investing in yourself, how do you do that when the costs are too high a threshold?
In many cases, clients choose to invest in their own trajectory. Of course, I think it is important that this (specific) service should be accessible to everyone. If you need (urgent) help and you do not (currently) have the financial resources? Feel free to ask about the possibilities for payment in installments or a personal payment proposal.
Please note: Contracts with health insurers or municipalities do not apply to SLC Coaching. Therefore, always inquire about your personal situation with your employer, health insurer, tax advisor or municipality.
